Mixed Reviews on Mr. Pip

Chocolate cakes, pimiento cheese tea sandwiches, baked brie, bacon wrapped-blue cheese stuffed dates, chicken salad tartlets. Yum!

Nancy's ham and radish tea sandwiches were wonderful!

Best book club meeting ever! I, for one, can't say that I loved Mr. Pip, but I did love our discussion about it. We've tried to kind of use our books to guide our food choices in the past, but I'm glad we didn't do that for this meeting considering the meager life the poor residents of Bougainville Island lived. What delicious food we had! In the words (kind of) Daisy Buchanan, "Sophisticated - God [we're] Sophisticated!"

Devlin Diary

We started our book club because of our love of books, but if we're not careful, we're going to have to start defining ourselves as a "foodie" club. After I got over my guilt that I had nothing to offer food-wise or book-wise, I had another wonderful evening with The Book Divas. Drinking Earl Grey tea out of Janet's limoge teacups and sparkling almond wine, thanks to Kathy, made me feel quite sophisticated; and, of course, the goodies were scrumptious, as usual.--Caroline
